Below is a summary of the stunning town of Calpe. To enjoy it at its best we would recommend using a Calpe car hire to explore the area.
The resort of Calpe on Spain’s Costa Blanca has been developed for large scale tourism and is second behind Benidorm with the number of high rise structures that have been erected. But the main reason that this resort is proving extremely popular is the condition of its two beautiful beaches which are separated by a large rock formation similar to the rock of Gibraltar. This formation is known as Penon de Ifach.
As mentioned above on either side are the two blue flag beaches for you to enjoy. The main one of these being Playa de la Fossa and which offers a great number of wonderful facilities for you to enjoy including the golden sand. This beach measures 900 metres long and on it are a number of wonderful things including play areas for kids, tennis courts and even a bowling green.
Also just a short walk up from the beach there are numerous bars and restaurants offering a great selection of Spanish foods as these are specifically geared towards Spanish tourists. So a lot of the meals on offer comprise fish and rice in them. Plus there are only a few restaurants here that are specifically catering to the needs of British tourists offering traditional English fare.
On the other side of the rock formation you can wander around the smart marina or if you want walk along Paseo Infanta Elena. This promenade offers you the chance to take things slowly and take a trip past the Roman fish farm and baths that still remain. Then keep walking along this and you finally come to the second beach known as Playa Arenal-Bol. This one measures 2000 metres long and allows you the opportunity to access the old town of Calpe.
This part of the city is worth exploring as you can see some very historical squares and buildings within it. It is here that every Saturday a street market takes place and where a number of wonderful purchases can be made. Also every Wednesday a flea market is held, so giving you an opportunity to purchase some unusual gifts that you can take home to friends and family.
However if you would like to explore the surrounding countryside or visit other resorts that make up the Costa Blanca then a Calpe car hire will prove essential. There are numerous companies which this can be arranged through and this can be done through their websites before you visit Calpe.
