Orihuela Car Hire
Situated just around an hour’s drive from Alicante, Spain is the city of Orihuela. Although it is located further inland you are still within easy driving distance of the many resorts that make up the Costa Blanca. So if you are intending to stay in this city during a holiday to this part of Spain then make sure that you hire a car so you can explore other parts of the province of Alicante with your Orihuela car hire.
Some places that you are worth considering visiting when you decide to holiday in Orihuela are listed below.
1. Torrevieja and La Mata National Nature Reserve
Located a few minutes’ drive north of the city is this attraction which is slightly inland from the coastal resort of Torrevieja. Since the times that Romans were in occupation in this part of Spain the salt lagoons within this attraction have been mind for its salt. However the mining of salt today from them is far less than what was taking place during the 19th and 20th Centuries.
As you wander around this reserve, remembering to wear suitable clothing and taking plenty of water to drink you will see over 200 different species of birds. You can either walk, cycle or travel around the reserve by horse back and don’t be concerned about hills as it is on salt flats.
2. Mar Menor
This 170 sq km salt water lagoon is only a short drive to the south of Orihuela. The lagoon is separated from the sea where its water comes from by a narrow strip of land called La Manga and that measures a total of 22km long. As well as the water being crystal clear because the depth of the lagoon is shallow the water remains warm throughout the year so why not take a dip when you visit it during the winter months.
But also the perfect place to take a swim this attraction allows you to participate in a number of other water sports including scuba diving, snorkelling, wind surfing and sailing.
3. Parc Natural de Sierra Espuna
This park is situated just over an hour’s drive from Orihuela so you will need to look for an Orihuela car hire. It is a truly amazing sight to behold because of its peaks made from limestone. Most people come here to hike however there are plenty of other ways to explore all that it has to offer including mountain biking.
